Six films about East Berlin, six "official" documents about the former capital of the GDR. Produced on official commission, they fulfil to varying degrees promotional and even moderately propagandistic intentions, aiming to increase the willingness of residents to identify with "their" metropolis and to rally support for specific projects. The documentary works are professionally and dramaturgically cleverly designed, and surprisingly entertaining - but above all they are one thing: documents that are equally valuable in terms of history and film history.
