Heiner Carow

Heiner Carow (19.9.1929-31.1.1997), director: Heiner Carow is one of the most important directors of the DEFA. At the beginning of his film career he made documentary short films. After moving to the feature film studio, he directed DEFA classics such as DIE LEGENDE VON PAUL UND PAULA (1972) and BIS DASS DER TOD EUCH SCHEIDET (1978) in addition to extremely successful children's films. The director succeeded in making socially committed films that did not gloss over the reality of the GDR and therefore found a large audience.
