What do Kristen Stewart, Scarlett Johansson, Daniel Radcliffe, Elijah Wood, Jessica Alba and Jena Malone have in common? They all began their film careers at a tender age, appearing in cinema films at eight, ten, eleven or twelve years old. Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling also started early, as child stars in the US Disney Club. Did this always work out well, or did they have to put up with disadvantages at a young age and even lose a piece of their childhood? Here in Germany, too, there are now well-known actors who started filming at an early age, and they too must have dreamed of becoming famous and successful one day. At times, they may have reached their limits, because film work is hard work, even in front of the camera. Accordingly, children in this country are only allowed to film for three hours a day and are supervised on set by pedagogically trained carers. The result is often astonishing when you see how confidently even very young actors carry the central moments of a film. Our collection brings together early and later films by actors.
