Waiting for the Flood

Politics/Society, Belgium 2022

Six years in exile in Brussels, 948 dialysis treatments, 3,792 hours, 2,000 injections—Meruzhan, an Armenian, has been through a lot. While waiting and struggling to stay alive, he continues to rebuild Mount Ararat to show us what his distant horizon used to be like. The biblical legend of the flood is universal. Between mythical tale and absurd bureaucratic reality, the film recounts the struggle for life of Meruzhan and his three companions Nedzhib, Ardiana, and Dranafil. Armed with disturbing humor and unwavering friendship, they are united. They laugh in the face of death.
